Eric Chen
President and Head of Greater China and North Asia region
Prior to joining FFH, Eric was the President of Chinatrust Financial Holding - the holding company of Chinatrust Commercial Bank. Mr Chen joined Chinatrust Commercial Bank as President in 2003, after a career of close to two decades with Citibank in Asia.
Beginning his career as an FX trader, Mr Chen came from a capital markets and treasury background. He has been based in Taiwan for most of his career except for a 3-year period from 1998 to 2001 when he was based in Singapore as Regional Head of Financial Markets for Citibank, Asia Pacific. He returned to Taiwan in 2001 as Citibank's Country Officer and Country Head of Corporate Bank.
Mr Chen is a respected veteran banker, well-versed with the North Asian and Greater China region. His team brought with them product skills and knowledge in derivatives and other non-lending products and interjected the Chinatrust group with a more multinational culture and management style. During his tenure at Chinatrust, Mr Chen led the bank's aggressive growth strategy through acquisitions and market penetration. The efficiency of their branch network has been greatly improved and the group reported a doubling of pre-tax profits in Jan 2005.
Mr Chen holds an MBA from the University of Missouri in the USA as well as a Bachelor's degree in Political Sciences from National Chengchi University in Taiwan.
