Bank Danamon Launches Digital Wallet Service
Jakarta, 13 March 2018. PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk (Bank Danamon) presents D-Wallet, which is a server-based electronic payment service, through a co-branding partnership with PT Nusa Satu Inti Artha (DOKU). With D-Wallet, Bank Danamon customers and non-customers can have access to a ‘digital wallet’ that can be used for online and offline transactions. D-Wallet can be used as payment source for online shopping in e-commerce sites for those who does not own a bank account or credit card.
“D-Wallet provides an answer to the current consumer lifestyle of opting for digital transactions. With D-Wallet, consumers are given the convenience and freedom of electronic payment, including those who do not own a bank account or credit card. This convenience is part of Bank Danamon’s commitment to enhance our service quality and provide added values for our customers and the public at large. This initiative also support the cashless transaction movement as promoted by the government, in addition to financial inclusion, since this service provide transaction options for a wider audience,” said Michellina Triwardhany, SME, Consumer Banking and Branch Network Director, Bank Danamon.
Through D-Wallet, users can buy restaurant vouchers, investment products, as well as goods and services from online merchants that are partners with DOKU, such as AliExpress, Lazada, and others. D-Wallet also can be used for offline shopping as well as cash withdrawals (cash out) through convenience store chains such as Alfamart, Alfamidi, Lawson, and Dan+Dan. D-Wallet users can also pay bills such as BPJS and PDAM.
In addition to shopping and payment, D-Wallet allows users transfer funds to other D-Wallet users, Bank Danamon account, and other bank account. D-Wallet balances can be topped up through Bank Danamon’s channels (ATM and Mobile Banking) or through Alfamart, Alfamidi, and Dan+Dan convenience store chains.
“Besides providing convenience in the form of cashless transactions, D-Wallet is secure, since users do not need to submit banking account or credit card information during transactions. For cash withdrawals and other transactions in convenience stores such as Alfamart, Alfamidi, Lawson, and Dan+Dan, users needs to generate token from the app. Every transactions made through D-Wallet also require PIN,” added Djamin Nainggolan, Consumer Lending and E- Channel Head, Bank Danamon.
There are 2 (two) types of D-Wallet users, which are regular and premium users. Regular users are allowed up to IDR 1 million in balances, while premium users are allowed up to IDR 10 million. In addition to higher balance, premium users can also enjoy other features such as transferring funds to Bank Danamon or other banks. Upgrading account privilege to a premium user is easy and only requires online verification within the D-Wallet application.
This partnership is part of DOKU’s efforts to widen its implementation of cashless transaction solution in Indonesia. Having previously made co-branding partnership with the academic and automotive communities, DOKU further expands its reach to include the banking community through the launch of D-Wallet. We hope that this collaboration will strengthen Bank Danamon’s product range and broaden its customer base, especially those who have yet to own banking account or credit card but want to perform online or offline transactions,” said Ricky Richmond, Senior Vice President of Consumer Product DOKU.
Ricky added that, based on Bank Indonesia’s data, the number of electronic money in circulation amounts to 113 million as of the end of 2017, including e-money and e-wallet. This number is a significant increase from the start of 2017 in which there were 52 million.
To use the D-Wallet application, users only need to download the application in the App Store for iOS users and Play Store for Android users as well as submit personal information and top up the balance.
